On 21 March 2018 DANS, Data Archiving and Networked Services, organized, together with the Dutch OpenAIRE NOAD, the Young Academy (KNAW) and the Dutch PhD Network - Promovendi Netwerk Nederland, an “Open day on Open Science” at the DANS venue.

Subject of this day was open research data, research data management, data archiving and data reuse. The day was a great success with presentations, discussions, and an information market. There were around 90 participants, mainly (young) scholars/PhD students coming from different disciplines, and data librarians.

Presentations
The presentation of the Young Academy (KNAW) by Rens van de Schoot contained a great deal of recognition for those present. What does the sharing of data do to you? A nice presentation with many recognizable elements about the sharing of data and the steps that can be taken.

Due to circumstances the presentation of Mina Karami from the Promovendi Netwerk Nederland was held by Elly Dijk (DANS, Dutch NOAD). This presentation was based on the work of the National Platform Open Science. A number of statements were discussed, e.g. the following statement.

Pitches on data sharing
After these presentations there were 7 pitches in the field of open data, concerning different disciplines. Also, these presentations are available online.

Information market
Prior to the program and during the break and drinks, there was an information market with stands about the core services of DANS (EASY, DataverseNL and NARCIS), European projects like OpenAIRE and EOSCpilot, Research Data Management, and information about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
