University of Ljubljana

University of Ljubljana (UL) is the largest research institution in Slovenia with 2,930 active researchers in 2008, registered with the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS). It contributes approximately half of the scientific publications produced in the Republic of Slovenia and is currently participating in 50 approved FP7 projects. UL will act as the National Open Access Desk for Slovenia within OpenAIRE project and will administer the deposit of peer reviewed research articles resulting from FP7 and ERC funded research in appropriate repositories (Special Clause 39). Research articles will be deposited into one of the faculty or institutional repositories, into the national digital library (Digital Library of Slovenia – dLib.si), into the appropriate subject repositories or, if any of the previous would not be suitable, into the repository suggested by OpenAIRE. Open Access activities in Slovenia are currently sporadically carried out on institutional basis with no centrally agreed requirements. The cooperation of UL in the OpenAIRE project as the National Open Access Desk will therefore enable the standardisation of deposit formats, copyright management and other aspects across Slovenian research community and all of it in compliance with agreed international standards.
